Report from Eldey: After scanning Kollafjörður again without any success we sailed out to Faxaflói bay. It started snowing early on which reduced our visibility and made spotting animals more challenging. We sailed far out and traveled through some of our main whale watching areas. It was not until we were on our way back that we received a word of dolphins from another boat in the bay. These were 3 pods of at least 20 white beaked dolphins! They gave us the most special performance. There were at least 5 young calfs in the group. They were both showed curious behaviour when they approached our boat, and playful behaviour when they leaped and headslapped next to our boat. This was a fantastic way to end the week.

Report from Eldey: Today we had an overcast sky and stronger winds than the last days, but still the ocean was calmer than expected and we had a smooth sail . We began searching the islands around Kollafjöður again, but, like yesterday finally headed out into Faxabay after not finding anything close to shore. It was near the lighthouse Grótta where we encountered a very active pod of 6 white-beaked dolphins. They proved to be tricky to follow at first but with a sudden change of behaviour they became interested in playing around our boat, even bowriding and demonstrating to us their skills in surfing the waves. Another rewarding day out on the water.
