Tour at 17:00: RUNNING

Report from Eldey: The weather was not as nice like in the earlier hours of the day. The sun has disappeared and it was considerably colder. This didn't stop us from baldly going out in the search of cetacean activity. Not even 10 minutes passed when we spotted a small minke whale just off the coast of the puffin island known as Akurey. The little "guy" was swimming in a relaxed manner around the area and even made a few close appearances for us to be able to photograph it. We spent some time with this young marine mammal, but had to leave it eventually to go a bit further out in the search of other marine life. We sailed out quite far away, about 8nm, and were very surprised when, what appeared to be a single white-beaked dolphin made a cameo appearance. We didn't see it again even though we waited and look all around. At the end time was up and we had to turn back to port.

Tour at 13:00: RUNNING

Report from Eldey: And another beautiful afternoon out in the bay awaited us today. We sailed out towards west with overcast sky and calm sea it seemed an easy one to find cetacean. Unfortunately it took us quite some time, but when we found them everyone was delighted: a pod of 5 white-beaked dolphins. This animals were not really shy and kept swimming around us, so everyone got a good impression of this really big dolphins and we could take some nice pictures. Following the code of conduct we left them after some time as more whale watching boats were joining in. Even though this was the only encounter, everyone enjoyed the afternoon out at sea and had a good time!

Tour at 09:00: RUNNING

Report from Eldey: The sea was a lot less angry than yesterday and with the appearance of the sun now and then, it was a nice and refreshing tour in terms of weather conditions. We sailed for more than an hour before we spotted some larger splashes on the sea. It was a small pod of maybe 5-7 white-beaked dolphins. Together with the northern gannets they were busy hunting for fish. At some moments they were fairly close to us to see their beautiful streamlined bodies. It was time to turn back to Reykjavik, so we did so. Even though we managed to have some good moments with the dolphins, we though that the tour was overall not up to standard, so we distributed free tickets to our guests, so they could join us on one more sea adventure.
