Report from Elding: Winds had definitely picked up a lot throughout the day and it made the tour a bit colder and spotting a lot more difficult with many whitecapped waves around and seabirds only resting on the sea. Nontheless our trained eyes spotted a puff of mist from a whales blow after about an hours search. This blow proved to be the third individual humpback whale of the day! And it was so interested in us, doing as much people watching as we were whale watching. It spyhopped to get a closer look and swam all along our starboard side, within a hands reach of us. Truly amazing to see such a giant so close to oneself.

Report from Elding: The wind picked up a bit but it was still a very comfortable ride! Our tour mainly revolved around 2 peckish humpback whales! We were able to stay with these beautiful creatures for a long while. It was possible to observe them perform synchronized feeding, as they were both up for a meal. All our passengers we able to do wonderful recordings as these animals were resurfacing quite close to our vessel. As we were already heading towards Reykjavik, we had a glimpse of a Minke whale. We could watch it re-surface a few times, but it turned out to be quite tricky to track, as it was being very illusive. We gave it a few tries but inevitably we had to go back to the harbour as were starting to run out of time. Another great tour with Elding!

Report from Elding: Today we went out with two boats as we had so many guests coming with us to enjoy this summer weather. And it truly was like a summer day, especially when we heard the cry of the arctic terns, a summer bird for Iceland that we had not seen any day before this year! With mirror flat seas and clear skies we could see their enormous flocks from far away and started to make our way there as our experience made us certain this would be an area with high food density. Sure enough, while staying in this area we saw a total of 4 humpback whales, with one individual constantly feeding and rolling on the side to show us it's white belly, pectoral fins and the tip of the tail. To top it of we also watched a pod of 4 white-beaked dolphins feeding in the same location. After over an hour of enjoyment, we slowly sailed back with sunglasses on and smiles in our faces.

Birds seen today: arctic tern, atlantic puffin, northern fulmar, black-backed gull, common guillemot, great skua.
