Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tour. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

Report from Eldey: It was super windy today with strong southern wind entering the bay. The advantage of this south winds its that it brings some warmth. We explored the islands and the coast close to Esja to see if yesterday humpback whales were still there. We had to go very close of the mainland to find them. A passengers scream while pointing on our left side and here it was, our first humpback whale of the day. The animal graciously dove showing its tail. We were repositioning the boat when we spotted a second blow further out. We didn't know were to go since it seemed to be a second whale and decided to follow the one closer to land. It was the humpback that we call Ekki, which means "not" in Icelandic since this humpback seems to not show its tail. We observed it for a while and its always a nice view to see a humpback with nice snowy mountains in the background. We also spotted quickly a grey seal in those shallow waters. We then went to the second humpback that we call Calamity. The whale was going for 4-5 minute dives and coming back sometimes moving a lot sometimes staying close by. We had a great close sighting in the end of the tour with the pectoral fins visible through the surface and a beautiful fluke dive. We went back to the harbour pushed by the strong winds.
