Report from Elding: This evening the tour started with still lots of sunshine. When we approached the bay we could feel the wind picking up and that wind stayed with us for the whole tour. Sailing through the bay we were able to see a lot of bird life around us. While the trip got a little choppy on parts, but we continued our search with high spirits. The tour ended with the most beautiful sunset you can imagine, but unfortunately no whale or dolphin sightings. Therefore we offered all our customers to return on a complimentary tour with us, withing the next two years, in either Reykjavik or Akureyri. Now we hope that the luck from earlier today will continue tomorrow.

Report from Eldey: The sun was shining hard and we had a soft wind coming from the Northeast. It was actually one of the warmest days I've experienced at sea in Iceland. The sea was calm so we were sailing softly around the bay while scanning the sea surface constantly. A few flocks of birds really active made us thought that there were a lot of fish around, but no animal was showing up. After a long time, a few splashes were spotted in the distance. 2 pods of really nice and jumpy white-beaked dolphins rewarded our patience just having acrobatic behaviour and surfacing really close to the boat. We had a big smile while enjoying these wonderful animals, when a suspicious dark dorsal fin appear in the horizon. A minke whale really close to the dolphins! A double sighting! Such a great time! After some time with the dolphins and the minke, we continued our heading to find 2 more minke whales surfacing really close to the boat to rise even more the happiness of every passenger and every crew member. Such an amazing tour!

Report from Hafsúlan: The afternoon tour started just as beautifully as the morning tour, with a lot of sunshine. After about an hour of sailing out into Faxaflói Bay, we came across a pod of 5-7 white-beaked dolphins. They were changing directions frequently, but we managed to keep track of them and got them close to the boat as well. Their beautiful dark grey-white coloration could be seen clearly, when they surfaced around the boat. Since they started heading away from us, we decided to let them go and look for some other animals. It took a little while, until we saw some more signs of wildlife. Northern gannets were plunge diving into the sea and nearby a minke whale popped up. Soon, 2 more minke whales appeared in the same area and we managed to see all of them surface a few times, before it was time for us to start our return to the harbour.

Report from Eldey: Well, this was a bizarre tour. The weather and sea conditions were perfect for whale watching; as if we ordered it especially for us. We looked for cetaceans for about an hour, which is also the mean search time, and managed to find some interesting things. There was a pod of 5-7 white-beaked dolphins circling the boat at a distance. Also, a small pod of harbour porpoises passing right next to the boat. We all succeed in taking a nice look at them and even took some photos; a sighting that is as rare as a pronounceable name of an Icelandic glacier. There was also anxiety on board related to a sighting of a minke whale, one that was seen briefly by the crew but that never came up again. Because we in Elding believe in excellence, and in tours that have all the best components of whale watching, we gave out complementary tickets for people to try their luck again with the baleen whales.

Report from Eldey: Beautiful day here in the bay, sun was shining and the ocean was calm. So after half an hour sailing we found 3 minke whales close to the boat, they were surfacing many times, so our passengers took great pictures of them. Everything was running smoothly and at one moment we had the minke whales next to the boat and also a pod of 6 harbour porpoises, it was fantastic. We stayed at the area for a long time seeing the minke whales but suddenly some splashes were really visible. When we had a look we found a pod of 11 white-beaked dolphins jumping out of the water. This is what I call a great tour.
