✔ TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 13:00

Report from Elding: We sailed out this afternoon in OK weather, not bad but not great either. Luckily even though we had heavy rain all morning it stayed pretty dry during the afternoon tour and only wind speeds of 8-10m/s from the SSE and swell no more than a meter meant it was a bumpy ride but in a fun way. We traveled long and far to areas of success the past days and in one of the area we had a nice sighting of at least 7-9 white-beaked dolphins including adults and juveniles and even one of our celebrity individuals called ‘Skywalker’ that we have seen yearly since 2007. They came close a few times but generally not in a human watching mood and so after about 20mins we left them in peace and went looking for something larger. We were out further and longer than we usually are to try to show our patient passengers some whales but they were shy and elusive and unfortunately we were unsuccessful. We found the dolphins again but only saw them surface twice but the wind and swell was increasing and we were late home so we had to go.  The stars of the tour were not actually the dolphins but a species of bird called ‘Gannets’ they were amazing, hundreds of them everywhere, plunging into the waters. Just incredible.

Birds seen on today’s tours include: atlantic puffin, manx shearwater, common guillemot, arctic skua, great skua, northern gannet, kittiwake, black-backed gull, northern fulmar, eider duck.
