CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We were in quite the ride this afternoon, with rough swell that made sure to train our sea legs! Overalls were used to keep warm and hot chocolate available to purchase if necessary. After an hours sailing we found a pod of 3 white-beaked dolphins, and they were hard to follow as they were clearly having lunch. Another pod of about 4 white-beaked dolphins came across before we finally had a superb encounter with a beautiful humpback whale. We stayed with it for a while and enjoyed its presence. It was the same individual that we saw yesterday, and it is still waiting to be named. Whale was swimming peacefully, staying on the surface for 4-5 breaths and then showing fluke and going down for 5 minutes. It was quite easy to follow as it maintained more or less its course. We tried our best to not be in its way and it paid off as two times the whale came up very close to our boat. We even could hear how loud whale exhale! Beside this humpback we also had great bird watching time as there was plenty of northern gannets and European shags. On our way back to the harbour we were also delighted by a third pod of about 5 white-beaked dolphins. What a spectacular tour!
