Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: today was a modest but very cold eastern wind with all around beautifully covered in white. Three boats went out together; two from Elding and one from another company, very beneficial as then more area can be searched for cetaceans. Hafsúlan first ran into 2-3 harbour porpoises not far from Akurey island but they vanished into the swell very soon. Then we continued to look out until the captain on the non-Elding boat spotted a few dorsal fins and notified us; always great when we can help each other out like that. This turned out to be the fins of white-beaked dolphins which we thought were just 2-3 at first but then realized that it was probably a pod of some 10-15, spread out as for the most part we had 2-4 close to us but at one point we noticed 5-6 in a distance and then came across a lone one as we had left the dolphins and started looking elsewhere. Hafsúlan sailed towards Akranes, while the other boats went in other directions, and then turned around before sailing gently across new area towards where we had seen the dolphins earlier but they were gone then; however we were grateful for the earlier encounter and could return content back to Reykjavik.
