CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Eldey: The second calm, beautiful but cold day of the last two months. Unfortunately yesterday was very windy which made the sailing and spotting difficult, we even had to cancel the afternoon tour, however today was a whole new adventure. At first the whales were proving difficult, coming up for a couple of surfacing in the distance and then not surfacing again for a very long time. Eventually we found an area where the bird life was abundant and active and we found a minke whale and two different humpback whales. Patience was needed but on the odd occasion the whales surfaced just meters from our bow after a long 5-7min wait. Incredible. An awesome morning on the bay of Faxaflói.

PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00
Report from RIB : This morning was wonderful, sunshine, blue sky, little wind. If the sea was still a bit choppy, we felt like it was getting down during the tour. We went out on the bay and observed many flocks of birds gathering on the surface. We stayed there a while looking to see if something else would appear attracted by the same fish than the birds. A minke whale finally appeared 10 meters from the boat ! So beautiful to see this animal clearly surface next to us, observe the white patches it has on its pectoral fins and its pointy rostrum. We saw it surfacing a few times and quickly lost it when it went for a deep dive. We did not insist because we saw a blow further away in the direction of Snæfellsjökull. We went ther looking for it but it stayed invisible. We went back when we saw another blow closer to Reykjavik and after a few minutes looking we saw a pod of 5-7 white-beaked dolphins with two calves. We were watching them when the humpback whale surfaced in the middle of it. The animal seemed to be curious and came very close to our boat, passed under us and surface again 20 meters away, started a little play/fight with the dolphins. The humpback went for a deep dive and we waited a long time without seeing it again. It was late and we had to go back. During the way back we saw another humpback whale at the distance and another minke whale.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey: If we thought this morning's tour was already spectacular, we really weren't prepared for what the afternoon held for us. It was even sunnier, even calmer and there were even more animals in the bay! We didn't have to sail long until we saw two humpbacks feeding at a few hundred metres from each other. In the same area, two minke whales surfaced a few times. All around the boat we could see animals, giving us the luxury problem of being spoiled for choice of which individual to follow. One of the humpback whales even came up 20 meters from our boat, showing us his back and tail fin from up close. As we saw even more blows and splashes in the distance, we decided to leave the four whales alone and pursue some other individuals. Along the way we saw three minke whales, one white-beaked dolphin, and finally another humpback whale! The humpback whale was surfacing regularly and after a while a pod of 15 - 20 white-beaked dolphins joined it. With a total of three humpback whales, five minke whales and more than 15 white-beaked dolphins, it is safe to say that this was a truly amazing whale watching tour!
