Report from Elding: For this tour we decided to take our passengers to Keflavik by bus and start from the harbour there. The wind had picked up a lot during the day so it was very rough and high swells, even in the sheltered area of the harbour. But all of our passengers were of enthusiastic spirit and liked the comparison of "pretending to surf". Although there were whitecaps and waves everywhere, I was able to spot the blow of a humpback whale. Getting to it was a bit challenging with the waves, but we managed and in the end had an amazing hour with this whale. It came within a few meters of the boat and we could all see it under the surface as it stayed in one spot for a few minutes each time it surfaced. We could hear it as it exhaled. The funniest was - and this was a first for me as well - the humpback defecated in front of the boat. Certainly not something we see often. It was really enjoyable and as the weather was getting worse and we had had such an amazing time we decided to go back to harbour after 1 1/2 hours of whale watching as this was an awesome tour.

Report from Hafsulan; It was sunny but there was a strong wind. When we left the harbour soon we found a minke whale. He was a bit elusive and just came up a few times. But still I think many people got to see him. We left him and when to look for some other cetaceans. After a bit of time 2-3 harbour porpoises came up really close to us, so awesome! They came up a few time and where quickly gone but is always nice to see them. Then we found a pod of 11-12 white-beaked dolphins they also came really close to us so we all got a good look at them. On the way back we got to see another minke whale. What a tour! We did get allot of fresh icelandic air do to all the wind.

Report from Eldey: Another sunny Icelandic summer day. We started into the day with a fresh breeze and some enjoyable waves. Our first sighting was a minke whale which was heading towards us. Apparently, this individual was traveling as it surfaced only once in front of us and just a short while later behind us. As it was swimming quite fast we decided to not chase it but instead headed further out in the bay. There the swell got a little stronger than in the more protected area close to land, so we even got an idea of how it would be in the open ocean. After sailing for a long stretch searching for animals, we spotted another minke whale. This one stayed in the same area and we could see it a few times although it was also rather elusive and always surfaced very quickly before going for another longer dive. On our last big circle before we actually wanted to return to the harbor, we were surprised by a small pod of 3 white-beaked dolphins. While watching these beauties we got a call from one of the other whale watching boats telling us about another bigger pod of dolphins. Thus, on our way back, we had a quick stop with this pod of 6-9 white-beaked dolphins, which mainly consisted of very young (small) individuals which were very active and even approached the boat. A great encounter to finish this sunny sailing adventure.
