Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: Today we went out from Hafnarfjörður as there we would be mostly sheltered from the wind and sailed towards Reykjavik but first we went a little to the west along the Vatnsleysuströnd coastline. The whole time there was some swell, cold and windy but even worse was the cloudy conditions; for almost one hour after we left the harbour, we had very little visibility, only 400-500 meters sometimes, which did not work well as we need more visibility when we are searching for cetaceans. But then it started to get better around the time when we turned towards Reykjavik. There was a lot of birds out on the water today; mainly various seagulls and northern fulmars, as well as one very large group of european shaqs, but sadly we could not find any cetaceans. All were hence provided with complimentary return tickets so that they can come back to us free of charge for another whale-watching trip within the next two years.

Birds seen on today's tour include: black-backed gulls, iceland gulls, glaucus gulls, eider ducks, european shags, common guillemot, northern fulmar.
