 TOUR ON SCHEDULE  | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We got lucky with the rain on this tour and with our course taking  us along Reykjanes, also the sailing was smooth for most of the trip. Heading out we had a very beautiful scenery despite the low hanging clouds, with rocky cliffs of the volcano created icelandic landscape.  It was not until 2 hours into our tour when suddenly a minke whale surfaced only 100 meters from our right hand side! What a pleasant surprise. We saw it for 2 surface sequences before it headed off, but not without leading us to a second individual which we saw briefly. Although the encounter was rather short, we all got a great view of the minke whale especially when it was lifted up by a wave, and certainly got some landscape sightseeing alongside with it.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 09:00

Report from Eldey: Rain and waves were like yesterday, very unusual the weather is so stabile in Iceland. But we definitely had an adventure at sea today as we got further out. Sailing to more fish rich areas, we encountered numerous harbour porpoises, 6-9, on the way as they were being lifted high up in the waves. But the first time we stopped the boat was at the sight of a minke whale. It was in an area with many fishing vessels and it moved very quickly from place to place, probably chasing fish. We got to see it very well at a few surfaces but then it became very elusive and we decided to use our remaining time to continue searching. We spotted a lonely white-beaked dolphin that was likely exploring the area for the rest of it's pod. Also this individual we stayed with for a while and got some great sights. However, all 3 species seen today were rather shy, simply because they were focusing on themselves rather than being with the boat. Which is nature. Thus, we offered complimentary tickets for anyone who wanted.

Birds seen today: northern gannet, eider duck, black-headed gull, northern fulmar, little gull.

Good morning! We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. The wind is not to strong this morning, but the sea might be a little bumpy out there. If you are prone to getting sea sick, we do have sea sickness tablets available free of charge at the office and on board. Make sure to dress warmly and make use of our warm overalls as it is always colder on sea than on land. For more information contact us by email elding@elding.is or by phone +354 519 5000.,
