Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: This time we slightly changed our path, and started sailing next to Videy, going side by Snaefellsnes. We enjoyed astonishing views when small pod of harbour porpoises popped up right next to us. This cute animals surfaced only few times but some lucky passengers were able to see them. Wind was blowing in our backs what made half of the tour very pleasant and second half, way back, was cold with wind in our faces. We spend some time watching birds: northern gannets falling from the sky, fulmars dancing on the wind and few young sea gulls which were coming to take close look at us. In one moment we stopped looking for minke whale spotted by other boat, but without success. We enjoyed tour anyway and at the end we offered complimentary tickets, hoping to see our guests one more time.

Tour at 9:00

Report from Eldey: We were prepared for the weather to be worse than it was - although winds were strong, waves were only moderate height and we only had rain for a few minutes. Although this of course isn't the most comfortable just remember the saying "just drive 10 minutes and the weather will change". It is definitely true for Iceland. We saw a pod of 5 harbour porpoises feeding near the lighthouse Grótta, together with a flock of feeding Northern Gannets. Landscape and scenery were great during this trip, even a double rainbow made it onto many photos. Unfortunately there were no whales to watch this trip - very surprising considering the amount of feeding activity we saw by the birds - so everyone was offered a complimentary ticket for another trip with us.

Birds seen on today's tours: Northern Gannet, European Shag, Northern Fulmar and Eider Duck.

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. There is some wind in the morning and swells out on Faxabay from last night but the forecast predicts that the wind will slow down in the afternoon.  If you are sensitive to motion sickness we offer preventative tablets in the ticket office, free of charge!
