CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Hafsulan: another beautiful day on our catamaran called for some beautiful sightings with a colorful background of snow-capped mountains, dark rock and green fields. It wasn't long after exiting Reykjavik harbor that we saw some splashing in the distance. We quickly reached the location, but the pod of dolphins or whale that produced those splashes couldn't be seen again. We then spotted and reached a very active humpback whale, which was having a lot of fun waving its flipper and its fluke around. It was also diving down very often, possibly to go after some food. The trip back was calm and safe, albeit a bit rocky.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The weather was on the poorer side today with moderate winds and waves rocking us about, however very soon after leaving the harbour we managed to sight our first humpback whale. This particular individual was a bit of an athlete and would show us its fluke for a dive after just a single breathe on the surface, making for some wonderful fluke shots, but a lot of waiting time on board while it fed below. Because of this we left to try and find other whales that might be more happy to stay with us on the surface of the water, however after just under an hour of searching we decided to come back and we found what we believe to be another humpback whale close to where we saw the first. This one was travelling, forcing us to follow in the boat, and was taking shallow dives underwater. Finally we said our goodbye and headed home to port with 2 humpback whale sightings.
