Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The wind had calmed on this afternoons tour but the skies still threatened with rain but it was just a threat as we stayed nice and dry throughout the tour. It was, however, very cold when heading into the warm so always remember to wrap up warm. We saw a large pod of White-beaked Dolphins, maybe 10-15 animals all travelling together. It was a nice encounter to begin with but they soon became difficult and so we left them in peace. We searched for the minkes for a long time after that but it wasn´t until we got contacted by another whale watching boat to let us know they saw something. Once we got there we had to be patient, we saw one here and there but very difficult to show the passengers. We were patient and our patience was rewarded because in the end we had maybe 3 Minke Whales surfacing around the boat most likely feeding. Everyone got a very good look and hopefully some nice photographs. Nice wildlife on a cloudy and foggy day.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: It was very foggy this morning and passengers were worried about seeing whales in this weather. I ensured them that it will be different once offshore and it was nice to be right as the fog cleared and you could see for miles. It was however windy and the sea somewhat choppy causing a few green faces onboard. (always remember to take advantage of the free sea-sickness tablets we offer our guests). We got to see three species of cetacean on this tour. First a large pod of 7-12 Harbour Porpoises which most guests saw as they were splashing around, chasing fish. Then it was a scattered pod of White-beaked Dolphins (20-30 in total) that were jumping and surfacing quickily. In the end we had the dolphins on both sides of the boat for all our passengers to enjoy. When we were losing hope about seeing a Minke Whale, our luck changed and saw one just as we were starting to head home. Surfaced many times for all to see. A very nice morning.

Birds seen on today´s tour include: Gannets, Fulmars, Lesser black backed Gulls, Glaucous Gulls, Guillemots, Razorbills, Eider Ducks, Kittiwakes, cormorants.
