Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: Weather conditions didn´t change from the morning tour. We headed straight out into Faxaflói for the 13:00 tour and visited the Puffin Island Akurey on the way home. The Minkes were still mainly in the same area as in the morning, so we knew exactly where to head for this tour and again had Minke Whales surfacing many times very close to the boat. There were many birds including, Gannets, Arctic Terns, Guillemots, Skuas and Puffins and saw the usual birds on the Puffin Island but this time saw Brent and Greylag Geese, but no Black Guillemots. Awesome tour just like this morning.

Tour at 9:00

Report from Hafsúlan: Today the weather was nice and warm and the sea quite flat at the beginning of the tour nearer the coast but the wind was stronger offshore. We started the tour visiting Lundey, one of two Puffin Islands and saw loads of nesting Puffins and a few Eider Ducks, Black Guillemots, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Geese and Oystercatchers. We then headed offshore which took about 30-40 minutes to get to the main Whale Watching grounds. We knew we were in the right area because of the abundance of feeding Arctic Terns, there were hundreds of them. We had to wait for a little while before we saw our first Minke but they were soon surfacing all around and some very close to the boat. On one occasion a Minke Whale came towards our boat and you could see it travelling beneath the water only 10 meters from us. There was also many Gannets, Arctic Terns, Guillemots, Skuas and Puffins at sea. Absolutely Awesome Tour!
