 TOUR ON SCHEDULE  | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The whales are having a party in Faxafloi today! Clouds were starting to lift and give way for us to see not only far into the distance but also our surrounding landscape.  As we had had a successful tour this morning, we wasted no time but aimed to where we had left the minke whale earlier. And sure enough, not one but 2 minke whales were there! One of the two really came so close to us several times we could even see into it's blow holes as it lifted it's head out of the water. A fantastic sight. We enjoyed their presence for nealry an hour and just as we had moved a few hundred meters further another minke whale surfaced! Throughout the tour we saw at least 6 different individuals, absolutely great. To put the icing on top, we also sighted a pod of 4-5 white-beaked dolphins which was in the mood to bow-ride AND harbour porpoises actually surfing the waves!!!!Wildlife really treated us well today.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE  | 09:00

Report from Eldey: A rather gray morning, but with little wind and the swell of the last days calming down slowly, still a good day to go out whale watching. Beginning our search in Kollafjöður we remained sheltered for a while. As we moved further out, we felt the movement of the sea but had a great visibility due to the weak sunlight making the water a light gray colour, the best contrast to the dark body colour of cetaceans. We were all doing great team work today when finally, after nearly 2 hours of sailing, we spotted a minke whale. It was swimming very actively, changing directions frequently, making it hard to follow. But with our joined spotting efforts we found it over and over again and stayed with it for half an hour. In the last moments it came up very close to us, totally worth returning to the harbour late for.
