    CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Hafsulan: We set off with a cold wind facing us. Thankfully, as we got further out and changed direction within the bay the wind was then behind us making it warmer. We had to sail for about an hour before we saw our first cetacean. A minke whale came up behind us. This cetacean was likely feeding with a flock of birds also feeding nearby. It came up every couple minutes or so for us to see it. After spending a bit of time with this individual we set off in search of more. We saw a blow further south so headed towards it. This was a humpback whale. It was behaving more like a minke than the minke did. We only got a quick glimpse of the body once before it disappeared again. Therefore, we went to examine another 2 blows we saw further away. As we got closer these 2 humpbacks had split up meaning we only spent time with one of them. We got to see this individual fluke dive a few times as well as lunge feeding! This was very cool. We also saw another individual further away very clearly. Overall, we got to see 1 humpback close to us with another 2-3 in the area.

    CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: Ropes off and away we go on this lovely Icelandic day. We had wind from the East so we had a good view in front of us. The sea was very calm, everything good for a nice whale watching tour! After half an hour we spotted our first sighting with a big blow close to us! It was a humpback whale that was feeding with a big flock of birds on the surface. Not very far, we started to see even more blows, another two 2 humpback whales!! We were very lucky to have so many whales around us but then, we saw splashes and they were from white beaked dolphins playing with another humpback whale. Such a beautiful day so far and it just got better and better with another 2 humpback whales blowing in the area surrounding us. Then the dolphins came back for more fun. All of this in the space of almost 2 hours. We were short on time after this so we started heading back to Reykjavík. On the way we passed by another 2 humpback whales giving us the fluke and so our fantastic, amazing, incredible and great day with so much cetacean activity was over!!
