Report from Eldey: A beautiful winter's day to be sailing in Faxafloi! It was a crispy cold day with wind and swell but clear skies with an amazing sunset. We provided everyone warm overalls to enjoy sailing properly. Spotting conditions were very good as there were no waves with whitecaps, so it should be easy to spot anything popping up at the surface. We sharpened our eyes from the very first moment and eagerly kept scanning the water surface around us. We searched through a large area, first going towards Reykjanes peninsula and then doing a big circle to the Eastern parts of the bay, next to the snow covered mountains Esja and Akrafall. Despite our best efforts, we did not spot any whales or dolphins. These animals are following the food supply, and likely there just wasn't much fish for them in the area today. We want our passengers to come and try again to hopefully next time see whales and dolphins and therefore we gave everyone a complimentary ticket allowing to come on another tour within the next two years.

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. We are expecting some strong undercurrent out on the bay today, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office. Make sure to dress warmly and make use of our warm overalls as it is always colder on sea than on land. For more information contact us by email elding@elding.is or by phone +354 519 5000.
