Report from Eldey: Sunny sailing continues! The weather was getting even sunnier, with still quite crispy winter's air but we of course provided our passengers warm overalls to enjoy the tour properly. We searched through a large area in the bay hoping to find the whales from previous tours since there clearly is a lot of fish for them to feed on in the bay, also indicated by the huge amount of seabirds present. We sharpened our eyes and were scanning the water surface all around us whist admiring the beautiful snowy scenery of Reykjanes peninsula and the mountains Esja and Akrafall. As the tour progressed more and more flocks of seabirds were joining the cruise but no trace of cetaceans was seen. Unfortunately even our hardest attempts to find any of our beloved whales and dolphins were unsuccessful, so a free complementary ticket was issued to everyone willing to join Elding for one more sail!

Report from Eldey: Here comes the sun! How wonderful Faxafloi looks in the sunshine. Mount Esja woke up capped with snow from last night, same as the islands by Reykjavik, and with this beautiful view we headed out to the bay. The tour was cold but there is nothing that our complimentary fancy red overalls cannot fight. As we went further into the bay it seemed like an explosion of birdlife: hundreds of fulmars, kittiwakes, all kinds of gulls... that were giving us high hopes on finding our beloved cetaceans. And soon enough, in the middle of a giant flock of birds a pointy, dark dorsal fin appeared at the surface, the distinctive fin of a minke whale. The animal was feeding around the area, and it's erratic movements were showing us how wide and spread out the school of fish was. Plenty of food now in Faxafloi is giving us the vibes that spring is around the corner. Exiting times ahead of us, both for the whales and for us in Elding!
