Report from Hafsúlan: we needed a good day today after the difficult days of late and we got it! It was eastern wind but only modest and it was only towards the end that we started seeing white tops, otherwise the surface was as calm as it could be this late into the year. We started by sailing alongside land towards Akranes but then turned west once we got the news from another boat that they had found some white-beaked dolphins close to land. There we found 4-5 of them busy chasing after fish, seemingly always two and two together. They were hard to follow but we still managed to see them well. Then we went further out into the bay to look out for what else might be present but soon returned once the other boat informed us that there were now more dolphins present. Back we went but once we got there, it seemed that the dolphins had become fed up, both by fish and attention as they soon disappeared. We searched for them for a while before returning to Reykjavik. Even so, it was such a good trip and different from yesterday, all landscape was visible, the sun was shining, and towards the end we had a stunning rainbow so all in all a vitamin injection that we well and truly needed!
