Tour at 13:00 Report from Hafsúlan The swell had increased on this tour but the sun was out from behind the clouds warming up the atmosphere. We headed out to the same area as this morning and saw many birds and Harbour Porpoises on the way. It was more difficult to find the Minkes on this tour but we did, most likely one Minke Whale but could have been more. It was a bit tricky to follow it as it kept changing direction so we couldn´t tell where it might surface next. We kept finding it however and all the passengers could see it at least once or twice if not more. The porpoises were a lot of fun on this tour as on many occasion they surfaced just meters from the boat. So one Minke Whale and 30-40 Harbour Porpoises in total for this afternoons tour.
Tour at 09:00 Report from Hafsúlan: We sailed out in spitting rain and a bit of snow which cleared up quickly. We headed toward the area we went yesterday and saw many birds and Harbour Porpoises (20-30 scattered individuals throughout tourl) but no Minke Whales, we then sailed further out but with no luck either. We gave the area one last check before going back to land just to see and we were so glad we did because two Minke Whales were there now. One even surfaced just meters from the boat. It was actually a good time to see the Minkes because the clouds had cleared and the sun had come out for better photographic opportunities. Slow start to the morning but a great ending.
Birds seen on today´s tour includes; one Puffin seen on the morning tour, Eider Ducks, Cormorants, Glaucous Gulls, Kittiwakes, Fulmars, Black-backed Gulls, a Great Skua (first seen of the season) and Gannets,
