Tour at 17:00

Again we started out by heading straight out into Faxaflói bay. First we came a cross Minke Whales that were very difficult and after that we had to search for a while, we spotted several different Minke Whales and blows from them but they were very difficult only surfacing ones or twice and then staying under water for very long. We then started spotting one and one Gannet and before we knew it we had a large flock of feeding Gannets all around us. After staying in that area for a while we started spotting the Minke Whales again and soon we had at least 3 different Minke Whales very close to us and when we were heading back we spotted at least two more. Before we got back to the harbour we then stopped by the Puffin colony Lundey where we spotted many Puffins, Kittiwakes and Lesser Black-backed Gulls.

Tour at 14:00

We started this tour by sailing out straight to Faxaflói. The wind had picked up a little bit so the searching conditions were a little more difficult than in the morning. After searching for quite a long time we found the first Minke Whale but it was being a little difficult and disappeared quite quickly. We sailed on and soon found another minke whale and this was also being a little bit difficult. We then spotted a nice pod of Harbour Porpoises that we could follow for a few minutes and then finally we found a Minke Whale which came up really close to the boat and showed itself well. On the way back to the harbour we stopped by the Puffin Island Lundey where we saw many puffins, all around. After some difficult whales on this tour we ended up having some really nice sightings!

Tour at 13:00

We started this afternoon trip by heading straight out into Faxaflói bay. We headed straight to the area where we had been this morning but there were not as many birds there this time and the whales had moved to another area. On our way out there we first spotted two Minke Whales. At first we were able to observe them very well but after a while they started to avoid the boat so we headed on. During the tour we spotted several more individuals some of them were diffecult but others came very close to the boat and were very calm. We also spotted briefly a nice pod of Harbour Porpoises. Before getting back to the harbour we then stopped by Lundey the Puffin colonie where we were able to see where the Puffin nests here close to Reykjavík during the summer season.

Tour at 10:00

With a full boat we headed to Lundey, where there were not only many puffins but also plenty of other species.  After about a 50 minute cruise under the fresh sunshine we spotted our first Minke Whale, and it did not stop until we had to head back to the harbour.  We were surrounded by approximately 15 Minke Whales in all directions and some of them getting really close to the boat, just a few meters away.  A fantastic tour in deed, even for the crew!

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We started out today by going to the Puffin colony Lundey there were many Puffins there this morning as well as Kittiwakes, Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Arctic Skua and some Black-Guillemots. After staying around the island for a while we headed out to Faxaflói. Soon after we got to the main whale watching area we spotted our first two Minke Whales. They were a bit avoiding us so we headed further and found at least 3-4 more Minke Whales, they were very nice came close to the boat and we saw at least 3 of them rolling in the surface feeding. Around that area we also found many Gannets feeding. Great trip out in Faxaflói.

Report from Elding: We started the tour in Puffin Island Lundey where there were many puffins this morning, both sitting on the island and flying around. Then we sailed out to Faxaflói and after about 45 minutes found the first Minke Whale. Soon we had Minke Whales everywhere, sometimes two, even three at the same time! These Minkes were really lively and surface feeding, coming up to the surface belly up repeatedly and showing us the tail and everything, with a big splash! Just fantastic. We then sailed to the harbour again with a big smile.
