Report from Eldey: The southerly winds had picked up only slightly this afternoon so still by simply wearing our Elding overalls, no one should have felt cold. As our previous tour was unsuccessful, we decided to cover another part of the bay now, staying close to Akraness. We had to show some patience, as can be the case when working with wild animals, but eventually spotted a pod of 5 white-beaked dolphins surfing amongst the waves. First we saw only their triangular dorsal fins but every now and again we saw most of their bodies as they were surfing in the wake of the waves. Great to see how much the animals can enjoy the waves. However, we did not feeel that this encounter lived up to our standards and thus offered complimentary tickets to anyone that wished to come back on another whale watching trip with us free of charge.

Report from Eldey: Another Icelandic weather day today, with rain following us here and there and southerly winds. The swell was super long today, something most of us really enjoy! We crossed a large amount of Faxabay this morning, beginning in the West, close to the Reykjanes peninsula and crossing to the East, the Snaefellsness peninsula throughout the trip. Despite great visibility with these extra long waves, no whales or dolphins showed themselves within our searching range. Possibly they have just been in areas we did not cover this tour, as we are sailing in the largest bay of Iceland! Consequently, we gave out complimentary tickets to all our passengers to come back on another tour free of charge anytime in the following two years.

Birds seen today: eider duck, common guillemot, northern fulmar, black-backed gull, cormorant, kittiwake.
We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. There can always be some movement out on the bay, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office. Make sure to dress warmly and make use of our warm overalls as it is always colder on sea than on land. For more information contact us by email elding@elding.is or by phone +354 519 5000.
