Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We sailed out from Hafnafjörður in the afternoon to make it easier for us to sail out on the bay with the high swells. We decided to head to the area where we had seen the humpback whale in the morning tour. It was rough on the way out, while we were heading into the swells the boat had to clime up and down the swells and like in the morning tour it rained a lot on us. We finally saw a blow in about 500 meters distance, when we got closer we saw it was the same humpback whale. we were able to stay around it for about 40 minutes, watch it surface and it is always amazing to sea the fluke of these animals coming out of the water when they go for deeper dives. While we were with the whale and on the way back the sailing was much calmer and to make us even more happy it stopped raining.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The weather was not in our favor today, it heavily rained nearly the whole tour and the wind never stopped blowing. for the first part of the tour we had to sail into the wind and the swells, the boat rocked quite a bit up and down with some splashes going over the boat. When we had already turned around and were heading back we got news from another whale watching boat that they had spotted a humpback whale! We of course went to have a look at the whale, it came often up and we got a good look at it. It might have been feeding, it seemed to be spending long time in the same area and our captain was able to detect a lot of fish under the boat. We got to see the fluke at least three times before we had to get back to harbour.
