Report from Þruma RIB: The visibility being good today, we could see Snæfellsjökull from the harbour and the volcano’s smoke from the bay. We did find a bit of cold wind and a choppy sea after leaving the harbour, it was still a great day for whale watching. Before whale watching we puffin watched, to see those birds quickly flap their wings is always an enjoyable way to begin the day. We were going to the same area where humpback whales were seen last week when we crossed the path of a white-beaked dolphin! This individual was probably travelling because we could not find it anymore. We continued our tour until we found a humpback whale feeding. The baleen whale was coming up to the surface sometimes really close to the boat, breathing a few times and fluke diving calmly. We witnessed this relaxed and beautiful show for almost 30 minutes before we came back to the harbour.
