Tour at 17:00

Report from Elding: As we left the harbour the wind was quite strong however the sea conditions were okay. We were quite hopeful as we passed the puffin colonies, although we turned south in order to be more sheltered from the wind. We made our way to the Aluminium plant where we were lucky before earlier this year. However, the ceteceans remained elusive and there was few seabirds too. This wasn´t a good sign however we kept going and then moved on the spot where we had spotted the minkes earlier. Unfortunately the only person to have spotted a Minke was Megan. We offered our passengers complimentary tickets, good for two years and we hope for more luck tomorrow.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: Wind picked up from our earlier tour however the sea remained smooth. Once we arrived to the site of our previous spottings we found 6-8 white-beaked dolphins that were very playful. Several times they were spotted breaching and leaping out of the water. Most likely they were feeding at the time before gradually moving off. As we made our way back to the harbour we spotted a minke whale that came quite close to the boat before disappearing on a longer dive. Sea conditions started to worsen as we made our way back but the mood was high after such successful sightings.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: After some rocky tours in rough sea conditions yesterday, we could enjoy a smoother sea today when we started our tour in Reykjavík. After about an hour we came into an area with a few flocks of feeding birds, so we slowed down in hope to also find cetaceans. And indeed, we were able to spot at least two minke whales, one of them a rather small individual. They appeared to be feeding while often changing their directions and were not easy to keep track of. However, they stayed around our boats for quite a while, so that still all of our passengers were able to see them. On our way back, another minke whale surfaced right next to our boat and we could see it coming up to the surface another two times, which was really nice. After this quick encounter we enjoyed the way back in comfortable sea conditions.
