Status Tour 9:00 and 13:00: RUNNING

Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsulan: The wind speed had increased from the mornings tour, creating small wind driven waves. These waves were not an issue however, as we headed in the same direction for the majority of the tour. Our first encounter was relatively quick as we spotted a pod of 5-7 white beaked dolphins just passed Grotta lighthouse. The pod were first seen calmy surfacing through the surf before they became more energetic. The pod likely began feeding as the birds in the area grouped around the pod and were diving towards the ocean surface to feed. The dolphins remained a short distance to our boat which provided great views but they seemed to be more interested in their own activities rather than our presence. We continued our search in order to try and locate any more cetacean species but had no luck in that regard. The dolphins were great to view and everyone was happy with their afternoon on the water.

Tour at 9:00

Report from Hafsulan: It was nice and calm morning, even if there was wind in the forecast we found shelter by the coast. Just after 20 min of sailing we had some dorsal fins of white-beaked dolphins in front of us. It was around 4 individual which were swimming fast in the direction of Esja. We followed them just to found much more dolphins. They were obviously feeding with some sea-gull following them from the sky. Dolphins were making a lot of splashes and fast movements close to the surface, some were even jumping! As we were close to the coast we had nice view for dolphins and Reykjavik in the same time - awesome photo opportunity. As this animals were busy we decided to go further but few minutes later we had another pod of dolphins around us. We spent with them few minutes and again tried to sail away but again dolphins happened! It was like that through all the tour, honestly I lost record of how many dolphins we saw, it was incredible!
