Tour at 13:00

Report from Elding: the wind was getting stronger by the day but it rained a little less than in the morning. We began by going to the area where we had gotten good sightings of the minke whales in the morning tour. When we came to the area it was not as lively as it had been, most of the birds were gone or were just sitting on quietly on the water surface and we could not find as much fish with our fish finder. We waited for some time and when we decided to leave the area we spotted a minke whale, it was very elusive and hard to spot. We saw some northern gannets diving down for fish a little further out on the bay so we went there to have a look if there were also any whales feeding on the same place. Right after we stopped the boat in front of the gannets a minke whale came up! It surfaced four times in front of the boat before it disappeared. Unfortunately that was our best sightings of the whales on this tour so we gave all of our passengers complimentary tickets so they can have a second chance with us to see the whales.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Elding: it was cloudy but it only rained on us for a short time on this morning tour. The wind was coming strongly from west so the boat was quite rocky out on the bay. It was difficult to find any cetaceans in the beginning of the tour, we knew that few minke whales were in the area because we got few glimpses of them but they were all very elusive and spent a long time under water. We saw a group of 3-4 harbour porpoises travelling fast by but it was also hard to get a good look at them because of their speed. Suddenly we got a good look at a minke whale in front of us, it came very frequently up and we soon realised that there were two minke whales there very close to each other! They came very well up and swam in a circle around the boat and always very close to us! We even saw one of them lunge feeding right next to the boat which was just amazing! We could not ask for a better ending for this tour!
