Tour at 20:30

Report from Elding: The wind was getting much calmer this evening. We started the tour at Akurey and it was so lovely to see all these puffins around the island. Some of them were even bringing fish home in their beak! But after visiting the island a very long search took place on Faxaflói. After a long search we found a minke whale! This one was fast swimming but suddenly it changed direction and came towards us! We got very excited but unfortunately we did not see again after that. The evening was very beautiful with the sun peaking out of the clouds over Snæfellsjökull. We hope that the whales will be showing up in a very near future!

Report from Hafsúlan: After being cancelled due to the strong winds in the bay earlier in the day it was nice to get back out onto the sea and see what wildlife we may find. We started the tour at Lundey (puffin Island) and there were a few there but maybe not as many as we may have wanted to see but lets hope they are busy out at sea finding food for their chicks. We did see a Grey Seal however at the island which was a really nice sight as it popped its head above the waters surface to keep an eye on us. We then headed north west towards Akurey and then south. We got word from another whale watching vessel about a Minke Whale that they got a quick glimpse at, so we headed that way to see if we could find it and show our passengers but unfortunately no luck. We did get a quick glimpse of a couple of Harbour Porpoises though but i think only some of the front lucky passengers got to see them before they dove and didn´t surface again. As we headed back to Reykjvaik, with some disappointed passengers that didn´t get to see a whale and the disappointed crew that didn´t get to show any whales, our spirited were slightly lifted by the beautifully lit up Capital City in the lovely evening light.

Birds seen on todays tours include: Gannets, Arctic Terns, Greylag Geese, Puffins, Guillemots, Razorbills, Kittiwakes, Black-backed Gulls, Fulmars and Eider Ducks.
