Report from Eldey: WHAT A DAY!! The weather was glorious, sun shining, calm sea and a nice crispness to the air. The wildlife was also loving the weather, after an hour sailing we found our spot. In the next hour we spotted at least 6-7 minke whales, a pod of 3-4 white beaked dolphins and a the small, at least 4-6 of them. The minkes were the best, surface feeding, rolling as they gulped in their food. You could see the white bellies. We found large minkes of about 8-9 meters and small minkes only maybe 5-6 metres. It was lovely to see the breathe every time they came to the surface. a really beautiful morning out in the bay of Faxafloi.

Report from Eldey: The weather today could not have been better! With flat seas, only a little wind and a beautiful shining sun ad blue skies . We were really spoilt today not only with the weather but the abundance of life in the bay! The first species to be spotted was a minke whale in the distance but then white-beaked dolphins popped up even closer so we decided to follow these ones first and what a wonderful look we got at them. They surfaced just perfectly right along side our boat on numerous occasions and even at one point came towards us and swam right underneath! Allowing us to see their beautiful patterned bodies from under the water. After watching these animals for a time it was decided to see if we could find the minke whale, and so we did. On traveling to the minke we got to see an abundance of harbour porpoises which was just fantastic! The minke whale surface beautifully allowing all to take a really good look at it. It also surfaced many times all round the boat. We then spotted a few more dolphins and were able to enjoy them as they porpoised through the water, then more porpoises and yet another few minkes at varying distance and guess what even more porpoises! The bay was just teaming with life and filled everyone with joy!

Birds seen today include; Northern gannets, northern fulmars, Icelandic gulls, glaucous gulls, eider ducks, cormorants, sooty shearwaters, black-headed gulls, kittiwakes, common guillemots and razorbills.

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. There should be little wind and according to the weather forecast we are expecting sunshine! Since it might still be a bit cold, we do have heated indoor areas on board as well as overalls to keep you warm out on deck. We are looking forward to welcoming you to our tour!
