 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 17:00

Report from Eldey: The weather remained rather pleasant, with gaps in the clouds allowing the sunshine to come through and the wind being calm enough for the surface of the ocean to be without any white caps. As previously, the cute harbour porpoises welcomed us siling out into the bay again and they were so nice, we slowed down to have a closer look. But as they are usually rather shy around big boats we did not stay long but continued sailng north west. Nearly 2 hours into our tour, a minke whale showed itself! It came to the surface clearly visible for 2 breathing sequences but then obviously chose another path under the water and dissappeared. Despite waiting some time, we were without luck in seeing it again and so continued on into the bay with the colours of the setting sun reflecting on the ocean. Then the best part came at the end - a pod of 5 white-beaked dolphins jumping, bow riding and swimming at the surface next to the boat and turning their heads to look at us!! The kind of encounter that just gives you that indescribable feeling. Within the pod were 2 of our well known dolphins, Puzzle and Sindri, which we can recognize thanks to the research that Elding conducts not only during our whale watching tours, which is only possible through our passengers joining us, but also on land. It was just the perfect way to end the trip tonight!

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 13:00

Report from Eldey:  The wind was picking up but we got to sail under the blue sky and sunshine from the beginning on.  As we were sailing out, we were accompanied by some harbour porpoises: Tiny triangular dorsal fins popping up here and there between the waves!  After the first hour, we found a pod of 3 white-beaked dolphins. They came quite close to us a couple of times but eventually started heading away from us making it difficult to spot them and follow along. Therefore we decided to continue sailing and see what else we could possibly find. Eventhough the conditions were perfect for spotting marine wildlife, the whales were just not in the area, unfortunately. Whales and dolphins are wild animals after all, so they are moving around a lot which we cannot control in any way. SInce the weather was so good, our passengers got a great view on the Faxafloi bay, the Snaefellsnes peninsula and of course nearby mountains Esja and Akrafjall. Finally, we gave everyone a complimentary ticket inviting them to come on another tour again for free. We want to give everyone a second chance to see whales properly, because we truly want to share our passion and love for those amazing animals!

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 09:00

Report from Eldey: With a very light drizzle of rain we began the tour with putting on our protective overalls before heading out into Faxabay. As time passed, so did the rain and clouds lifted on the horizon, giving way to sights of the scenic surrounding landscape. Until our first encounter with a pod of at least 12 white-beaked dolphins about half our tour had passed. But it was an adventorous encounter as the dolphins were hunting fish alongside the bird species called northern gannets. So as the gannets were diving into the water all around, dolphins kept showing up amidst them, at times finding a few moments to also check out our boat, jump over a few waves or bow-ride. Which is a just thrilling way to experience them in their true nature. Continuing after more than a half an hour, we encountered another smaller pod of dolphins and also had a glimpse at our speedy harbour porpoises. As we sailed back, the sky really opened up and the sun welcomed us back to the harbour.
