Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: When we left the harbour this afternoon, we were greeted by light rain and some wind from the west. As on the morning tour, the swell became stronger after leaving the shelter of the land. Thus, some people decided to stay in the more stable back of the vessel while others enjoyed the movement in the front of the upper deck. Although we headed out to the same area as we saw the dolphins in the morning, the only cetacean encounter we had on this tour were 2 Harbour Porpoises which surfaced twice in front of our ship. As only a few of our passengers got a good look at them and we could not spot any other whales or dolphins, of course, we offered complementary tickets to all our guests to give them the chance to come back and join another tour with us on a more successful day.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: When we sailed out this morning, the water surface in and close to the habour was almost like a mirror which was a bit decieving. After about 15 min of sailing, we were greeted by some long sweels coming from the West that must have been caused by some strong winds further out at sea. These swells made our way out pretty bumpy and Eldey rocked from side to side not always in a gentle way. It took us a long time to find some cetaceans on this tour. Together with two other boats we had searched a large portion of the bay for more than 1 1/2 hours until we finally came across a pod of 6-8 white-beaked dolphins. The group stayed quite close together and we easily got closer to them to give everyone on board a good view. At some point they swam underneath our boat and came up  in the other side just a few meters away from us. We were able to follow them for a good while and then started to head back to the harbour to give other boats the chance to see the dolphins that were approaching the area as well.
