Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: The afternoons conditions were great, no wind and smooth seas meant that we were in for a good trip. After journeying into the bay for just over an hour we saw a white-beaked dolphin jump and create a large splash from a kilometre away. We made our way to this area and the acrobatic behaviour had been replaced by much more restful surfacing. There were many individuals scattered into smaller pods that surounded the boat, with some animals coming very close. We continued to watch the dolphins for some time as they calmy swam around the boat. We decided to search other areas and soon came across a group of 5 harbour porpoises. These animals surfaced many times before going beneath the surface for a short time and reappeared quite close to the boat. They provided some amazing views for everyone on board as they can be extremely difficult to view at times. We sailed back towrards the harbour encountering many porpoises along the way.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: One really beautiful morning, with almost no winds and near-crystal clear seas. The spotting conditions haven't been as good in ages, so we were quite confident at the beginning of the tour. Nonetheless we didn't spot anything for the first 2 hours, apart from a pod of 4-5 harbour porpoises that were splashing around, far away from the shore. After that, we did manage to spot a large pod of 7-9 white beaked dolphins. At the beginning they were surfacing quite slow, almost resting. But as the time passed they started to become more active and we even got to see them hunting! An awesome experience, if only we could maintain this really nice sea conditions for a little while!
