Report from Elding: What a wonderful last tour for the day we have had, weather was giving us a break and wind speed decreased substantially so we suffered a little bit less from waves attack. We were about to leave the harbour when we spotted a bushy blow really close to us. It was a huge minke whale breathing heavily. When we were thinking about one single individual travelling alone we discovered that we were wrong, it was a mother with a little calf! They were heading away from Reykjavik and going into the vast bay of Faxafloi. We tried to follow them but they were always elusive and keeping the distance, so we couldn't´t get closer. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset and the live music of Bjarni, our local artist. Unfortunately, we considered that it wasn´t enough for a whale watching experience and we offered a complementary ticket to our passengers so they can enjoy with us a second time.

Report from Eldey: Sun kept shining this evening and we had wonderful tour with amazing landscape around. Only cold wind reminded us that we are on Iceland but with overall we were prepared. Today in general it wasn't easy to spot animals but we followed birds and under flock of feeding northern gannets we had close encounter with minke whale. Whale jumped out from nowhere and stayed with us for a while. Couple minutes later we saw another minke whale in the same area. Unfortunately whales disappeared quite fast but it didn't take us long to find another animals. We found pod of 4 white-beaked dolphins. Even if they acted elusive our patience was worthy and few times dolphins came very close and our passengers were able to watch them through windows from inside the boat. What a comfortable way of watching wildlife! On the way back, just before entering area of Reykjavik one more minke whale was waiting for us to end this nice tour.

Report from Eldey: It was sunny afternoon and even wind wasn't bothering us much. Air was clean and visibility was perfect so we started tour by enjoying scenery. After spending some time sailing through the bay another boat informed us about dolphins. We went to the area were we saw pod of 6 white-beaked dolphins. They were elusive today, swimming fast and changing directions so after a while we lost them. While waiting for dolphins to came back a minke whale surfaced around 5 m from our boat. Whale surfaced only one more time and we didn't see it again but then at the end dolphins show up! It was the same pod as previous so we had one more chance to take look at this pretty and fast animals.

Report fro Hafsulan: The weather was a little bit interchangeable today so we had sort the tricky conditions out in Faxafloi but we did a great job enjoying our private roller-coaster. We were sailing for a while into one of main spotting areas trying to find our beloved cetaceans, it took a while but we spotted 4 white-beaked dolphins surfacing several times. In the meantime, a minke whale popped up in front of us and we were able to see this fantastic animal two times before it went for a deep dive. We scanned the area but we couldn't´t find any more animals and enjoy them for longer time, for that reason we offered to our passenger a complimentary ticket so they can try their luck a second time.

Report from Eldey: We still had a strong wind blowing right from the beginning of the trip. Surprisingly it was more focused on the shore so as soon as we reached the center of the bay the conditions were actually quite favorable. It took a lot of time until we received the call from another whale watching vessel telling us they spotted a group of dolphins. So after a thoroughly search around the are we finally spotted a large pod of 7-9 white beaked dolphins that apparently were feeding on the area. Unfortunately no whales came to us during the trip, but the sight of this beautiful dolphins jumping in the middle of the sea was quite a thrilling one!

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. There could be some waves out on Faxabay but we do offer sea sickness tablets if you are sensitive to motion sickness. It is a beautiful day and hope that you are able to join us on our search for these magnificent animals.
