Report from Eldey: What a tour of contrasts. The morning started with some light rain welcoming us in the harbour. As we were leaving towards Faxaflói the rain became a thing of the past and we entered the whale watching area with a pretty good visibility, although the ride started to become slightly rockier. Nevertheless, the first signs of cetacean life came out: 4 harbour porpoises. The sighting on these animals was tricky and quick as usual, but is in their nature to be fast and dodgy. Already on the bay the sea birds came in our way and guillemots, great and lesser black-backed seagulls, herring gulls... were spotted feeding on some fish close to the surface. Rain came along again to the end of the tour, in which we couldn't find any whales or dolphins, so a complementary ticket was offered to our passengers to try their luck with us once again.

Birds seen on today´s tour included: comon guillemots, black-backed gulls, herring gulls, gloucous gulls, eider ducks, great cormorants, northern fulmars.

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. There could always be some movement out on the bay, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office. Make sure to dress warmly and make use of our warm overalls as it is always colder on sea than on land. For more information contact us by email elding@elding.is or by phone +354 519 5000.
