✔ TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 13:00

Report from Eldey: More gray clouds and rain this afternoon but still a fairly calm sea that provided decent visibility for spotting. Birds were still out and about, looking and smelling for the areas with the most fish for them to catch for lunch and dinner. This is a behaviour we make use of, letting the birds show us where the best areas are to likely also encounter dolphins and/or whales. Especially northern fulmars seem to be increasing in numbers in the past days, maybe an early sign that spring is on the way. Even though the rain lessened throughout the tour and numerous eyes were resiliently scanning our surroundings, we did not see any cetaceans today. Although it was a pleasant and hopefully educational ride, we want to offer the actual experience of seeing wild and free dolphins or whales during our tours and thus supplied a complimentary ticket to everyone to return once more with hopefully more luck.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 9:00

Report from Eldey: The north was giving us a sample of winter today! The tour started under a greyish coat of clouds that now and again also gave off some rain. Still, everyone was able to be outside if they wanted by using the overalls we provide on board free of charge, of course, to make the trip as comfortable as possible. We sailed the waves as we were lifting our hopes on the chase of our marine mammals, keeping our eyes open for any hint of their presence. Flocks of birds came along our way and twice we spotted smaller pods of 2-3 harbour porpoises. Unfortunately our efforts were not rewarded with any other species and a free complemetary ticket was issued to everyone willing to try their luck again with the wildlife of Faxafloi!

- Sabrina Voswinkel

Birds seen today include: european shag, cormorant, common guillemot, eider duck, northern fulmar, northern gannet, black-backed gull, icelandic gull.

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. there could always be some movement out on the bay, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office. Make sure to dress warmly and make use of our warm overalls as it is always colder on sea than on land. For more information contact us by email elding@elding.is or by phone +354 519 5000.
