Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We tried our luck in Faxaflói today, sailing out from Reykjavík harbour. Sailed past the small island close to the coast and enjoyed the variety of seabird species still around. Sea conditions were excellent, see for miles in all directions. The pollution from the volcano prevented us from viewing the beautiful landscape however, you could feel the air thick with ash and dirt. We did find a small pod of about 3 harbour porpoises feeding under a couple of seagulls but unfortunately that was it in terms of cetaceans. It is always disappointing for both the company and passengers when the whales are not around but all we can do is cross our fingers and hope the herring will soon come our way and bring the larger predators with it. We offered our passengers complimentary tickets in the hope they have better luck next time.
