Tour status: RUNNING

Tour at 17:00

Report from Hafsulan: The weather was improving, even started to get some sunshine on this late afternoon tour. The sea was calm, so it was a real pleasure sailing out into the bay. Half way through the tour we spotted some white-beaked dolphins jumping and being very active. As we came closer we saw them hunting and some got really curious about us and our boat. We could stay with the animals for a really long time, some even continuously jumping, a real dolphin show! Unfortunately we started to run out of time and needed to turn towards home, shortly we saw a glimpse of a minke whale who unfortunately did not show up. Nevertheless it was another great day out in Faxafloi!

Report from Eldey: For our tour this afternoon we experienced the whole range of Icelandic weather: some rain, some sunshine, rather strong winds, but the sea was rather flat. We found our first minke whale not too far out in the bay. It was surfacing slowly in front of us and easy to follow. After enjoying some time with this individual we headed out further into the bay and came across 2 white-beaked dolphins, a mother and a calve! Unfortunately they were elusive, but we still got to see them a few times. Then suddenly a pod of about 5 harbour porpoises surfaced just in front of the boat. We were able to see them a few times, before they vanished as quickly as they had appeared. On our way back we found another minke whale, wrapping this tour up nicely.

Report from Eldey: What a wonderful morning we had enjoyed today, flat seas, amazing conditions to sail and incredible sightings. It took a while to have the first encounter but it was kind of special as we spotted 4-5 minke whales feeding in a productive area but once we got closer one of them, a calf, decided to hang out with us as she was surfacing very close to the boat several times. Later one, the starts of the show made their presentation as we came across with a lot of different pods of white-beaked dolphins, around 25-30 of them in total. They were feeding, jumping, socializing and catching our attention a while. After enjoying this incredible experience we headed back to Reykjavik not before witnessing a huge rainbow in the horizon.
