PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00

Report from RIB : We had a cold but beautiful sunny morning today with wind coming from north east. We went out and it was more choppy than expected so we first sheltered near Esja. After a while we went more to the south trying to get further out in the bay but it was to rocky on board and we had several big waves  making us a bit wet. We were happy to were our overalls that kept us warm and dry inside. We decided to head back to Reykjavik after 30 minutes in the bay because we could not go further out in a safe and comfortable way. We offered to our passengers the possibility to have a refund or to reschedule the tour to try again on a calmer sea.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Elding: After several days with the ship docked in port, it is appreciated having a tour as magical as today. The day started somewhat bumpy, despite the waves, visibility was good and the clouds let a splendid sun pass through. It seemed that it could be a good day because the sea was full of seabirds, a sign of food. Some passengers enjoyed searching for animals while singing, and after 20 minutes of searching we were able to spot a group of 7 white-beaked dolphins. Shortly after a blow could be seen. It was a humpback whale! At first we only saw its blows but it did not take long to see it up close, delighting us with its body and its fluke. It conveyed a lot of peace, possibly it was resting. While we were admiring it, a minke whale crossed our path. Their aesthetic white patches on their pectoral fins could be spotted. Despite seeing it up close moving fast, possibly traveling, we were able to see it a few more times as it followed its path. Shortly after we continued seeing the humpback whale that we were seeing previously. Suddenly, more white-beaked dolphin jumps could be seen on the side, and another humpback whale. At that point, we were surrounded by animals! On the way home we enjoy the magnificent views of Reykjavík with the snow-capped mountains. A day to remember, moments that our passengers will surely keep in their memory and in their cameras.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Elding : We left the harbour in this sunny afternoon under better conditions than this morning. The wind seemed a bit softer and the sea was much nicer, making the tour nice and comfortable. We went to the same area than this morning and it was quite confusing for a while, because we were observing blows here and there, and when we were approaching the area we could not find any whale. We finally spotted a humpback whale that we could approach and have a very nice sighting of it. We saw it elegantly fluke dive two times. In the meantime we were observing many minke whales from faraway around flocks of birds. There was at least 4 in the area. They were fast and hard to spot. We were late and the dives of the humpback were very long so we started heading back. We crossed a 5th minke whale during the way back.
