Tour 17:00

Report from Eldey: Today we had a proof how unpredictable can be weather on Iceland. After calm morning and afternoon, evening surprised us with rain, strong wind and waves. We sailed out with good moods, keeping in mind how successfully were our previous tours. Unfortunately at the beginning we had wind in rain hitting our faces and it wasn´t easy to look around. First we spotted big splash but after waiting a while we couldn't´t find any animals. We decided to check flock of feeding northern gannets but again without results. Finally we found a minke whale, but this individual was elusive and only crew was able to spotted it twice. On our way back we saw big splash one more time, this time close to the boat and few seconds later another minke whale jumped out of a water. It was awesome but animal didn´t repeated it again. Because it was hard to see animals for our passengers, we offered complimentary tickets so they can came for whale watching tour with us one more time.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: It was a lovely day with calm seas and a slightly clouded but sunny sky. It didn't take us too long at all to find the cetaceans today, before we knew it we were watching white-beaked dolphins! These beautiful animals delighted us many times as they surfaced right next to the boat and swimming alongside us allowing to see their patterned form under the waters surface. This pod of 6-7 then split and we continued watching three dolphins as the 3-4 others went for a longer dive. After viewing these incredible animals for sometime we headed further out into the bay to see what else we could discover. And to our great delight we spotted a minke whale! surfacing wonderfully just a few hundred meters in front of us, we were able to see this animal surface multiple times and another one in the distance too! Throughout the rest of the tour some rather cute harbour porpoises popped up to entertain us and yet another 2-3 minkes were spotted. What a delightful tour!

Tour 9:00

Report from Eldey: This day started amazing for us. Finally after cloudy days sun was shining, there was no wind and sea was flat. After 30 min of sailing we seen our first minke whale. And second later another. The longer we stayed in the area, more and more whales appeared. In one point we were surrounded by 4 individuals which came so close that we could smell their breath. Later we decided to make small circle to look for other species of cetaceans. We found pod of 6 harbour porpoises, and even if this animals are normally elusive, today we had a chance to spend with them few minutes. Next to porpoises more minke whales were swimming around. Before heading back to harbour we saw another 4 or even more individuals. We wish all days were like this!

Bird species seen on todays tours: northern fulmar, northern gannet, kittiwake, lesser black-backed gull, great black-backed gull, atlantic puffin, manx shearwater, eider ducks and common guillemot.
