 Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

 COVID-19: Keep in mind that passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitizer is advised.  

Report from Eldey: November is here when its still dark as passengers start to board the boat for the 9am tour, however as we left the harbour we started to see some beautiful colours in the sky as the sun rose behind the clouds. It was pleasant tour but chilly with 7-9m/s winds from the NE. We all dressed up warm and scanned the ocean for life. In the far distance we could see lots of birds…..thats promising. We suddenly saw a dorsal fin. A minke whale speedily surfacing, then another in the distance. We saw maybe 3-4 individuals throughout the tour but almost impossible to photograph. We saw also a pair of white-beaked dolphins that surfaced twice and disappeared. What is going on! After about another 30mins we saw a big bushy blow like that from a humpback whale, finally our luck has changed. We saw the blows amongst the waves many times but we didn’t see the whale at all. Everything was super elusive this morning and even though we saw whales is was a very difficult tour and thus we offered our passengers complimentary tickets in the hope they could capture memories of these amazing animals next time.

Report from Eldey: This morning was difficult, this afternoon was even more so. We searched a huge area of the bay and sailed through the areas we had glimpses this morning. We saw many birds, mainly seagulls, shags, sooty shearwaters and guillemots but no cetaceans. Not even a dorsal fin until about half way through the tour we finally got an OK sighting of a pod of 5-7 scattered white-beaked dolphins. They too were quite elusive and difficult to follow. They soon disappeared and we were on the search again unfortunately with no luck. We offered our passengers complimentary tickets and hope that tomorrow will be a better day.
