Report from Eldey: Very nice afternoon we have enjoyed out there in Faxafloi. The sun was the start of the tour as it was shinning and heating up our cold bodies during the whole trip. We searched around Faxafloi for a long time and we only came across with the nice views of the coastguard patrol "Thor" and some seabirds every now and then. When we were about to give up, a huge flock of birds surprised us. Once we got closer, we discovered that hundreds of northern gannets were diving and several dozens kittiwakes were feeding over sandeels which were abundant close to the surface. That´s exactly what we were looking for because we knew that whales like food too (who is going to reject free food) and we were proved to be right. A tiny minke whale popped up in the middle of that frantic moment and we could see how she was actively feeding as she was changing direction constantly. Unfortunately, we could only get some glimpses of this animal so we offered complimentary tickets to our passengers. Nonetheless, we enjoyed a beautiful day out there in the bay.

Report from Eldey: Another tour on which we had to face the full range of Icelandic weather. First it was sunny, then raining a bit in addition to the cold, rather strong winds blowing in our faces. This mixture produced quite a few beautiful rainbows though, spanning all the way across the bay. After sailing for a little while, we came into an area, where a lot of seabirds were gathering. In between the birds we found 4 minke whales! Some of them were only showing up once or twice, but two of the minke whales surfaced repeatedly around the boat, coming rather close. We were also lucky enough to spot 1-2 harbour porpoises next to our boat. When we kept going, after enjoying these encounters for a while, we could still see the blows from the whales rising above the water surface. In another area a pod of 3-4 white-beaked dolphins came for a short visit to the boat, but it was a very short encounter. Still, we really enjoyed this tour and the sunshine on the way back.
