Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

WHALE WATCHING TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey: I really can’t express the brilliance and beauty of todays tour. The scenery was just breath-taking with snow covered mountains, mirror calm sea and no wind all this cast with a warm glow as the sun stays low on the horizon this time of year allowing for the best picturesque conditions. Within 30 minutes we had found our friend, Flak. A humpback whale we have been privileged to encounter time and time again over the last few months. Flak was busy feeding, often surfacing within meters from us. Obviously feeding on a bounty beneath us. We also got some nice pictures of Flak´s powerful fluke as it rose above the surface and then into the depths. To minimise the disturbance to Flak we moved on and let other whale watching boats that were in the distance, waiting patiently come in our place. We slowly headed more inland to enjoy the scenery and seals. THE SEALS!! Wow. We slowly approached them sun bathing on the thicker ice floats, thinking they would dive down once we got two close but NO, they just stayed there resting whilst we observed quite closely. First an ice float with two grey seals and then another ice float with two harbour seals with many more in the distance. The photo opportunities were amazing today as our captain Otto manoeuvred the boat so slowly and respectfully and got in the right position to have the wonderful winter low sun glow on them. Just amazing!!
