Status Tour 9am: RUNNING

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. It is a bit windy or 8-10m/s coming from the South-East. There will be movement on the boat today due to swells out on the Faxa Bay.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: The wind was strong when we left the harbour but the sea conditions were not too bad. It didn't take long for some of our passengers to spot a minke whale as we were entering the bay! Unfortunately the animal turned out to be pretty elusive and none of us saw it again so we went further out. After a while we encountered a pod of more than fifteen white-beaked dolphins. The cetaceans were pretty busy and judging by the four northern gannets diving next to them, they were probably feeding. Still, they did came very close to the boat and even jumped out of the water on several occasions. After a nice show we decided to take our chances a bit further and again bumped into an elusive minke whale which we only saw briefly on one occasion. After that furtive encounter we had to head back towards Reykjavik, keeping in mind the show the dolphins had put for us.
