Status: RUNNING

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. There is little to no wind but there could be some movement on the boat out on Faxabay. If you are sensitive to motion sickness we do offer preventative tablets in the ticket office, free of charge! We have heated indoor areas on board but we also have overalls to keep you warm out on deck. We are looking forward to welcoming you to our tour!

Report from Eldey: The sea was wonderfully flat on sailing out into Faxa bay this afternoon, the wind wasn't too strong and there was only a tiny bit of drizzle. It didn't take us too long to find cetaceans today, as not one but two pod of white-beaked dolphins were spotted only 70 meters in front of us. We followed one pod of 5 individuals for a while as they were surfacing very slowly and in a very casual manner. After watching these wonderful animals for sometime it was decided to go check out the other pod of dolphins. hese animals (6 individuals) surfaced slowly and very close coming up only 5 meters away at times, they then began travelling at a rather fast pace so it was decided to say goodbye to these dolphins and to look for some other cetaceans. And it wasn't a too long wait as a large pod of 5-6 harbour porpoises surfaced out of the waves and came up many times. It was lovely to see this normally shy and elusive animal surface so many times, however, they were still too quick for me to get a decent picture but there is always hope. What a wonderful day to be out on the water!

Report from Eldey: This morning we were sailing out in prime sailing conditions, very calms seas and almost no wind. The sky was clouded, but luckily it stayed dry for most of the trip. Only after half an hour of sailing we saw our first signs of black dorsal fins in the distance. It turned out to be a small pod of 2-3 white-beaked dolphins. They were diving for quite a long time so it was a bit difficult to take track of them, however it showed our passengers what to look for and soon we were spotting more and more dolphins in the distance. We decided to take a look and found 2 lovely pods of more white-beaked dolphins, one was lightly smaller with 5 individuals and the other was considerably larger with 8-10 individuals. Especially the pod of 5 was great, the dolphins came really close to the boat and surfaced quite slowly next to us very often so that everybody got a chance to take nice pictures. On this tour we could spend over an hour in total with the dolphins and really enjoyed their presence and interaction. Then it was time for us to take a circle and return to the old harbour of Reykjavik. On our way back we also saw 2-3 harbour porpoises very briefly to top that great morning out in the bay.
