Report from Elding: The wind calmed down since the previous trip and we were mostly sailing over flat seas during this tour. The skies were heavy and we did felt some typical Icelandic light rain. But those conditions only made the scenery more mystical. Some of our passengers were happy to stay outside, warmed up by our overall, and some other preferred to spend it inside our inner saloon, holding on to a hot chocolate cup. Unfortunately it was not possible to sight any whales during this tour. As we are dealing with Nature, though it is rare, sometimes tours like this do happen. But since does not hold on to our company standards, we offered all our passengers the chance to come back on another whale watching tour, for free.

Report from Elding: The weather was a little more rainy than on our morning tour. But that didn't stop us from going out in search for some whales, and we were not disappointed! We spotted a blow in the distance and headed over to see what it was, and found a humpback whale! The whale seemed to be feeding, changing direction quite frequently and popping up right next to our boat a few times! After a while it seemed to be moving away from us and so we decided to head further out in search for something else. We had not been sailing for long when another humpback whale appeared a few hundred meters away. We sailed a little closer and got a good look at it before we ran out of time. It was a great tour, full if seabirds and these two awesome whales!

✔ TOUR ON SCHEDULE  | at 9:00

Report from Elding: The morning tour started off quite nicely, calm with the shelter of the mountains and very light showers. We were loving the variety of birds flying and feeding near to coast; gannets, manx shearwaters, guillemots, seagulls and of course the ever delightful puffin. We even got a wonderful view of a rainbow. it took us about 1 hour to reach an area where another whale watching vessel spotted a humpback whale. It seemed to be feeding with the constant changes in direction and the searching for food. These humpbacks need to eat as much as possible before they head south on their migration and eat very little during this time. After a very enjoyable time with teh humpback we left it in peace and went looking for other species. We were unfortunate to not see more but we had fun on the windy, rainy adventure back to port. A tour full of life but mostly of the seabirds that were diverse and abundant, especially the arctic terns.

Birds seen today: common guillemot, northern fulmar, northern gannet, atlantic puffin, eider duck, black-backed gull, black-legged kitiwake, arctic tern, glaucous gull, manx shearwater, arctic skua, great skua.

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today at 9:00 and 13:00. It is quite windy today, so there will be some movement out on the bay.
