Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: It was getting colder and windier by the day but fortunate not windy enough to make the sea wavy. The bay was not as lively as it had been this morning and it was much harder to find any cetaceans and when we found them they were much more elusive. Throughout the tour we spotted three groups of harbour porpoises but it was hard to follow their movement. Then we found a small minke whale, it was spending a long time under water and there for it was hard to predict where it would surface next. In the end we got a nice group of 4 white beaked dolphins that were milling slowly around in one area and giving us a good look at their beautiful grey and white bodies.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The sea surface was both very calm and bright so it was easy for us to spot animals coming up from a great distance. We had not sailed for long until we saw a group of 4 harbour porpoises, it can often be difficult to spot their small bodies but there we got a very nice look at these cute animals. Then we found a group of 3 white beaked dolphins, one of them was very curious and swam all around and under us. This was just the beginning of the porpoises and the dolphin festival of the tour. Everywhere we went we saw these two species, the porpoises being cute swimming slowly around and the dolphins cheerful swimming around us and jumping up in the air every now and then. In the end we spotted a minke whale few hundred meters ahead but although we waited for a while we didn’t get a better look at it. Fully backed and very lively tour!
