Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 & 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

COVID-19: Keep in mind that passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitiser is advised. Masks are mandatory in areas where keeping 1 meter distance from others is not possible.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: It was a lovely sail this morning out on Faxaflói Bay. The swell was still quite high but long which made the ride more comfortable. The cold wind was blowing from the East so it was only cold on the way home but nice on the way out. We first travelled west out into the bay, maybe 8-9miles then turned north towards Akranes and back to port. We saw at least 7-8 harbour porpoises of 3 small pods of 2-3 individuals. The bird life was also very nice: kittiwakes, seagulls, shags, guillemots, razorbills and fulmars soured the skies. We unfortunately didn’t see any whales or dolphins this morning so we offered our passengers complimentary tickets to come again for free in the next two years. Hopefully more luck will follow them on their next tour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: It was cold but not windy today making the tour pleasant. The visibility was fine even if we had some fog at some point and even a little bit of snow.  After an hour we spotted a group of 2-4 harbour porpoises that showed up a couple of times but as usual they were very difficult to observe. Next we had a nice sighting with 10-14 white-beaked dolphins divided in 3-4 small pods. We could obseve those beautiful dolphins during a while, they were poping on each side of our boat, some coming very close. They seemed to be indifferent to our boat, just socializing in small groups and calmly swimming, and sometimes going for longer dives to feed. At the end of the sighting, six dolphins surfaced in synchronisation and it was super nice to see these beautiful animals so close together and close to our boat.
