Report from Eldey: After a strong start, summer took a break today. The usual gray sky and wind were here to welcome us out at sea, but the low temperatures that we thought long gone joined as well. But adventurers don't let the cold get in the way of an exciting cruise, so we excitedly ventured in the North Atlantic anyway! Facing the wind and the waves for the way out, the trip was smoother than expected. And once we turned our back on the elements for the way home, the sailing got comfy, and we got a break from dark when the blue sky and the sunshine made an appearance! Despite the enjoyable excursion, the cetaceans did not show up, except for one hasty minke whale that showed up twice and 3-4 harbour porpoises that also made an appearance at the speed of light. That is why everybody on board was promptly offered complimentary tickets, so everyone can have a shot again and hopefully more fulfilling sightings.

Report from Eldey: Weather was similar like in the morning, with only positive differences as it wasn't raining and it wasn't cold. At the beginning we were sailing against wind and swell but our captain did his best to make it as comfortable as possible. In fact some of our guest had great time experiencing this 'roller coaster'. There was plenty of sea-birds flying with wind around us. Specially kittiwakes were active and were following us all the time. We also got to see northern gannets, arctic terns and of course atlantic puffin. Unfortunately birds weren't feeding what would help us with spotting cetaceans. When we turned our boat and started sailing back with the wind, ride became much more smoother, difference was so big that it seemed like the weather had changed. It was fun to spent afternoon and sea and experience real Icelandic weather, but we did not seen any whales or porpoises. Hopefully our passengers will come back as we offered complimentary tickets, and next time we will be successful.
